Sadly, after the past week, we have another suicide bomber story to top the world news.  This comes from the Associated Press, via The Guardian:

Suicide bomber kills 29 at football match near Baghdad

Isis suspected of carrying out attack in Iskanderiyah as Iraqi forces recapture territory in western and northern provinces

A suicide bomber has blown himself up in a football stadium south of the Iraqi capital, killing 29 people and wounding 60, security officials said, as the military announced new gains on the ground against Islamic State.

The bombing took place during a match in the small stadium in the city of Iskanderiyah, 30 miles from Baghdad, the officials said. Medical officials confirmed the death toll.

In another crime story, Ashifa Kassam writes about a case in Canada:

Canada's Black Widow: the rosy-cheeked killer is back on the streets

Melissa Ann Shepard, 80, has been released from prison. Lonely, elderly men, like the partners who suffered a series of unfortunate events, have been warned

Rosy-cheeked and bespectacled, 80-year-old Melissa Ann Shepard has a type: elderly widowers who are lonely and looking for love.

That’s what is making police in Canada nervous.

Authorities in Halifax, Nova Scotia, have warned residents about the octogenarian, dubbed the black widow by local media for the string of former partners who fell victim to her.
