Hot. Heavy. Not awfully humid, but very chewy air. A bit of a breeze all day but definitely needing the air conditioning. Tonight I sit on the front steps in the hopes of seeing some lightning, but only the clouds were there. Grey overhead, but between us and Iowa were the dark threatening clouds of a summer storm and slightly closer a roiling low-hanging mist, coming ever closer.
An acquaintance wanders by on her way to the office (a Saturday evening? Yes, and she comments on my beautiful cat who is pounding at the glass door, frustrated that I am on the other side of it from him, I just smile). After she goes on, the students next door, filing metal in some sort of repair or building process, realize the storm is coming, and they part, not a minute before the gust front rolls in.
